"Arctic Glow Pack" Basket Backpack
This is another Adirondack pack kit from Jennah at Jill Choate Basketry. This one is my favorite so far—it is such a great size, and the beautiful purples really pop! I added the fancy rim to this based on another one of her designs. It was my first time with that challenge, and I love it so much I almost regret it being a gift for my friend.

Kiger Run
Oil on 20” x 36” Yupo

Kiger Run is inspired by my summer trip to the Kiger HMA in Eastern Oregon. The stallion in this piece was intensely occupied with guarding his herd, driving off any encroaching bachelors with swift, commanding movement.

In the close-up passages of the painting, you’ll notice my reductive techniques and subtle traces of the initial sketch—I enjoy letting the history of the process remain visible. Hints of mauve weave through the composition, echoing the wildflowers that were in bloom during our visit.

Yupo proved to be the perfect surface for this image; its responsiveness to dripping paint amplifies the sense of forward motion and energy in the animals, giving the piece a dynamic presence and a touch of drama.

This artwork was juried as a Finalist into Wild Heart Gallery's Masters of Equine Art online showcase. Coincidentally, the Best in Show in this international show was awarded to a photograph of Oregon’s South Steens Mustangs.

Locally, I will have my artwork displayed at the Portland Bottle Shop in Sellwood for the month of April.
